The company that i’ve been working for almost 5 years is having a Family Day last weekend. It’s a fun as well as tiring one. I’ve never thought it will be very fun, but it is! Full of laughter, everyone is so sporting which makes the event more memorable. There are number of events that i involve, such as Tug of War, Treasure Hunt and Paintball. It so tiring, yup hell tiring.

I never thought that i’ll be bumped into our international subsidiaries representatives from Saudi Arabia & Indonesia. Their hospitality towards local personnel is really good. Very approachable and sometimes their jokes are unpredictable lot.

Sultan & Menteri

Posted in Daily Distortion, Quote-Unquote on August 26th, 2005 by kimi – Be the first to comment

Read today’s Harian Metro satirical cartoon. I’m almost ROFLAO in the very second. This is why:

Buai laju-laju,
Sampai negeri Kelantan,
Bila besar nanti,
Boleh kahwin dengan Sultan.

Hahaha…very true. The story about Sultan of Brunei married a Malaysian lady really drive most of the tabloid crazy. And he goes another tickling line from the same cartoon.

Buai laju-laju,
Sampai hujung negeri,
Bila besar nanti,
Boleh kahwin dengan Menteri.

National newpaper is running this menteri’s wedding news for 2 days straight. A good strategy to increased their paper circulation. The tabloids are even worse. Since monday till today, the headline is all about the Menteri & his wedding stories.

So, is this what we really want to read?
Feed your mind with rubbish and rubbish is what it will process.

*Will be heading South tonight. Company Family Day will be held in Melaka. Hopefully it will be a memorable one.

Books, my lifelong passion

Posted in Books, Daily Distortion on August 25th, 2005 by kimi – Be the first to comment

I read an article in Harian Metro last night. It really caught my attention about how people see the world in different perspective. Below are the excerpt of that article, talking about A. Samad Said & his book. Here goes…

“Kita beli buku bukan untuk jadi bodoh, tetapi untuk menimba ilmu dan menjadi pandai. Jadi, apa salahnya kita belanjakan RM200 untuk menjadi seperti itu? Bagaimanapun, kita boleh juga berbelanja RM200 untuk jadi lebih bodoh, tapi ini semua bergantung kepada individu itu sendiri dan mentaliti masing-masing,” katanya yang membaca semua genre pembacaan sama ada novel, politik, agama dan ekonomi.

Kimi says : I can’t agree more than that. This is what i do. I buy books so that i can be different from the man on street. Better still, far off than my colleague. Not bragging myself, i just feel happy & satisfy to be different. Read more, u will feel different ‘internally’.

More excerpt, i wish i can do this. Spending to gadgets is not my top priority. Books always come first in my shopping list.

“Minat Samad kepada pembacaan membuatkan dia tidak lokek berbelanja. Setiap kali memasuki kedai buku, dia berbelanja sekurang-kurangnya RM200 untuk membeli buku. Malah, perbelanjaan bulanan untuk buku kadang-kadang melebihi RM1,000. Apa yang menarik, setiap pembelian itu akan dicatitkan dalam diarinya.”

Kimi says : My monthly spending on books sometimes exceeding to RM 300. At a very ‘good’ day, it might reach to RM 700 a day. Call me crazy, i accept it wholeheartedly. All i’m doing is for my self satisfaction and continuous improvement in various areas.

Nowaday, my youngest brother seems to follow my footstep. His pocket money is usually being used to buy books. Eventhough most of the time it laced with anime comics, i think it a good start. A budding love to book will create a long-life passion to it. Alhamdulillah, that’s what i have nowaday. A lifelong love to books. I can’t sit down for more than 5 minutes without a reading material on my hand.

“When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes.”
-Desiderius Erasmus-

Kimi says : Just think about it!
