My last ‘Badak Berendam’ for Ramadhan 1427. I bought this from Kelana Jaya’s Pasar Ramadhan. It also the last set the stall have to offer. Talking about coincident.
Today is the last day of Ramadhan, 1427. Most of the people around are busy preparing for tomorrow’s biggest day which is the Aidilfitri. My mum is currently handling her chore in the kitchen. The aroma of ‘Rendang’ is making me crazy and turn me hungry even more. My youngest brother is taking his sweet time, sleeping big time on the sofa.
This year’s ramadhan leave me at a blazing speed. I spent 4 days of it in Middle East and rest at back home. While last year, i had a luxury of choosing the mosque i would like to perform my prayer at, this year it doesn’t goes that way. I got an ‘extended’ responsibility of picking up my wife at her office and spend our time together for ‘breaking fast’. Usually when we reached home, Terawikh prayer usually finished. So i have to perform it all by my own.
In this Ramadhan, i managed to get my hand to my favourite delicacies of all time. Malaysian called it ‘Badak Berendam’ (pic) . Don’t asked me how the name came by, i’m no better in its history. That aside, this delicacy is not easy to find. I have to hop from one ‘Pasar Ramadhan’ to another to buy it. It cost RM1.00 for 3 pieces of ‘Badak’ dipped in sweet ’broth’. On a very hungry day, i can whopped all 3 ‘Badak’ in one go. But now, 2 pieces will create my trouble to my stomach.
About the ingredient, let the Pasar Ramadhan stall owner to worrying about it. The important thing for me is the Badak must be thick and chewable, and the broth must be sweet that can rot my tooth. For another 12 months from now, i have refrain myself of thinking about this delicacy. Or else, it will make myself crazy.
So long Ramadhan 1427. You shall be missed.
